The Musical Theatre programme is made up of two parts: the FdA in Musical Theatre, followed by the Level 6 BA (Hons) top-up Musical Theatre. You can choose to complete the whole three years with us. This structure allows maximum flexibility for you to achieve a qualification after two years, or join us from another institute for your final year.
The degree aims to provide the student with excellent practical performance skills underpinned by a rigorous academic understanding of Musical Theatre. The degree draws on the professional and industry experience of our lectures and a range of visiting lectureres. It will develop personal, professional and transferable skills that will equip students for a career in a rapidly evolving theatrical/performance media based environment and provide a foundation for continuous development of these skills. The degree will develop self-confidence, motivation and communication in order to thrive in an increasingly competitive industry.

The course addresses the study of musical theatre through developing technique in dance, singing and acting linked to performance in a variety of musical theatre genres. Practical explorations and related performance tasks provide a context for the acquisition of critical and analytical skills. This is supplemented by a combination of technique classes, lectures, seminars, workshops (as appropriate to each module), and the required reading for these modules.

FdA - 96 UCAS Tariff points, English and Maths (4/C), applicants are required to attend an audition and interview. Drama and/or Dance at AS/A2 Level, BTEC National Diploma in Dance/Drama/Performing Arts, AVCE in Performing Arts. An overall Merit grade will be expected. Students without a formal qualification will be considered individually.
BA (Hons) - A FdA, HND or relevant qualification. English 4/C
