The Drama & Performance programme is made up of two parts: the FdA in Drama & Performance, followed by the Level 6 BA (Hons) top-up Drama & Performance. You can choose to complete the whole three years with us. This structure allows maximum flexibility for you to achieve a qualification after two years, or join us from another institute for your final year.
With a strong emphasis on devising and working within professional and community settings, this dynamic course puts collaboration with real-life partners at its core.The course is taught by a team of experienced professional practitioners, all currently active in the industry. It provides students with excellent practical performance skills and develops the discipline, self-confidence and communication skills required to thrive in an increasingly competitive industry.Through intensive performance training and professional performance opportunities we build up your practical and industry knowledge to prepare you fully for work, whether you see yourself as a Performer, Director, Workshop Leader or working in the creative sector. All modules are weighted towards practical assessment and some modules are entirely practically assessed.

The course addresses the study of contemporary performance via a focus on the interrelated nature of theory and practice. Practical explorations and related performance tasks provide context for the acquisition of critical and analytical skills. This is supplemented by a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and the required reading for these modules. Assessment is carried out through essays, reflective journals, viva voce, presentations, dissertation, practical examinations and performance in full scale productions.

FdA - 96 UCAS Tariff points, English and Maths (4/C), applicants are required to attend an audition and interview. Drama and/or Dance at AS/A2 Level, BTEC National Diploma in Dance/Drama/Performing Arts, AVCE in Performing Arts. An overall Merit grade will be expected. Students without a formal qualification will be considered individually.
